Issyk Kul is the second largest alpine lake in the world. And this incredible 5 day journey has been designed to become one of the best trips of your lifetime! 11 destinations and numerous experiences. Not being the longest one this tour implies all the authentic activities that you would experience only in Kyrgyzstan. Five beautiful and intense days around the charming and boundless lake will get you through its both sides: from the modern resorts on the northern coast, to the wild and pristine nature on the southern. You will be trying the national cuisine, riding a horse up to the waterfalls, sailing the endless lake on the boat, sleeping in a yurt, seeing wild animals, visiting museums with parks, roaming the canyons with gorges and so much more! In the morning you’ll be picked up from a hotel and we’ll head straight towards the Issyk Kul region (250km).

Itinerary

Day 1

Bishkek - Burana Tower - Kemin valley - Cholpon Ata

On the way, stop at the famous Burana Tower. This UNESCO World Heritage site will be of interest to the history fiends. We’ll spend around 30 minutes here: climb on the top of the tower, visit the archaeology museum and walk around to have a look at the balbals (ancient stones with depictions). Resuming our way to Issyk Kul. Second stop on the way is the mountainous valley Chon Kemin. Here we’ll have a fascinating horseback ride through the picturesque field, forests and the serpentine mountain pass up to the panorama. Lunch on the second storey of the lovely guest house with a far-and-wide view. Moving on further to Issyk Kul. Upon arrival in Cholpon Ata (central town of the lake’s northern coast) check in at a guest house. Now heading to the harbour to have a beautiful boat ride out on the lake. After roaming 8km the boat will stop at the depth of 150m. In the hot season (May-September) you can dive into the water and enjoy the surreal swim (life jackets provided). In the other seasons you will have no less beautiful time on the boat. Dinner at a restaurant. Free time. Overnight.

Day 2

Cholpon Ata - Grigoriev gorge - Karakol

In the morning after breakfast we’ll have some free time at the beach for swimming and sunbathing. Visit 2 places of great interest: the historical museum where you will trace the entire history of Kyrgyzstan and the spiritual center Rukh Ordo which is dedicated to 5 main religions of the world. At noon we set off for another town of Issyk Kul - Karakol which is located on the line between the northern and southern coasts. On the way we’ll visit the picturesque Grigoriev gorge with its rich green meadows. Lunch on the river bank. Moving on to Karakol. City tour upon arrival: Prjevalsky museum, Dungan mosque (1910), Russian Orthodox church (1895), local zoo. Check in at a hotel. Free time. Dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight.

Day 3

Karakol - Ski Base - Karakol - Jeti Oguz

In the morning we’re heading outside Karakol to the famous Ski Base. In winter you would have a beautiful skiing experience here but in summer you will enjoy no less stunning views of the whole region. Luscious green meadows, vast conifer forests and the entire lake in the background - it’s all about this Ski resort. A funicular will take you up to the height of 3040m and back down. Return to Karakol. Lunch. Now we’re leaving this small, nice town and heading towards the southern coast. Today’s final destination is the gorgeous Jeti Oguz valley which will disclose to you its legends. Driving up the mountains, deeper into the valley of flowers we’ll arrive at “Jailoo” (green summer pasture) where a yurt camp is located . Now it’s time for a magnificent horseback voyage through the forests and rivers to the lovely waterfall. Free time for a walk. Dinner. Overnight in a yurt (traditional Kyrgyz dwelling).

Day 4

Jeti Oguz - Barskoon - Skazka canyon - Bokonbaevo village

In the morning after breakfast in a yurt we’ll resume our way along the southern coast. A visit to the lovely Barskoon waterfalls. A visit to the fascinating Skazka (Fairy Tale) canyon for a charming hike. Lunch. Moving on further. Upon arrival in Bokonbaevo village check in at a guest house. Rest time. At sunset time we are going to witness the spectacular Falconry Show (a falcon hunting for its prey). The Berkutchi (falcon’s owner) will tell you more precisely about this traditional way of hunting. Free time. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 5

Bokonbaevo village - Bishkek

Well, today is the last day of your stunning tour. In the morning we’ll have some time to walk around the village and visit a couple of craft shops where you will learn more about the national embroidery and felt carpet weaving. Return to Bishkek through some beautiful canyons on the way ( 4 hours). Stop at the beach for a relaxing swim. Upon arrival in Bishkek check in at a hotel (not included). Rest time. In the evening you will have a lovely city tour and a farewell dinner with your guide and driver. Drop off at the hotel. This is the end of our tour, thank you very much!
